Netherton is a village in the parish of Dudley, from which it is distant about 2 miles; it includes Darby Hand, Bumble Hole, &c. The population is returned with that of Dudley.
The Church, dedicated to St. Andrew, is a very handsome and spacious stone building, and being erected on very high ground, commands a fine view of the surrounding neighbourhood. It was erected in 1830, at a cost of about £8,000; Lord Ward gave the land, and was likewise a very handsome contributor. Rev. George S. Traneker, Incumbent; Mr. Henry Weaver, Clerk. The Netherton Church of England School, for boys and girls, is a large brick building, well adapted for the purpose for which it was erected; there is a house adjoining for the master.
