Coffee Houses. The first coffee-house in London was established in 1657, in St. Michael’s-alley, Cornhill, near the present Jamaica and Madeira Coffee-house; and the second was established by a person named Farr, at the Rainbow, No. 15, Fleet-street, now the Rainbow Tavern, opposite Chancery-lane.
