The manor belonged formerly to the Wallop family, and belongs now to the Earl of Portsmouth. Farleigh House stands amid fine scenery, and is the seat of the Caldwells. The parish is a meet for the Hampshire hounds.
The living is a rectory, annexed to the rectory of Cliddesden, in the diocese of Winchester. The church is small and cruciform. Charities, £9, and alms-houses.
