Parish Registers

Marriages at Ebrington 1653 to 1812

Note. – The six volumes containing the earlier Registers of Ebrington are of interest owing to entries relating to the families of Keyt and Fortescue, who were lords of the manor.

Volume I contains Baptisms and Burials from the 9th of Elizabeth till the Commonwealth (the five pages which probably contained the Marriage entries are cut out). The Book has no cover, but consists of 30 pages of parchment.

Volume II is a paper book of 16 pages, with 2 blank fly leaves at the end. It is bound in parchment with brass clasps, but now fastened with rough leather thongs. It is very much injured by damp. It contains entries of Baptisms, Burials, and Marriages 1653-1680.

Volume III is a parchment book of 43 pages, with a cover of the same material. It contains all entries to 1739. Volume IV contains Weddings up to 1754. Volume V from 1754 to 1803. It is a parchment volume, the entries being entirely in writing. The succeeding Volume VI is the folio of printed forms and extends from 1804 to 1812.

These extracts have been made by the Rev. J. H. Bloom, with the consent of the Rev. W. J. Guerrin, vicar, and are printed after collation with the originals
