OTTERY (Ven), a parish in Honiton district, Devon; on the W side of the river Otter, under West Ottery hill, 3 miles SSW of Ottery, St. Mary r. station. Post-town, Ottery, St. Mary, under Exeter. Acres, 918. Real property, £979. Pop., 101. Houses, 19. Ven Ottery House and all the land, except about 160 acres, belong to T. Yelverton, Esq. The living is a rectory, annexed to the vicarage of Harpford, in the diocese of Exeter. The church is of the 13th century; consists of nave and chancel, with embattled tower; and contains memorials of the Mundy family.
