WADDESDON, a township, a parish, and a sub-district, in Aylesbury district, Bucks.
The township lies 5½ miles NW of Aylesbury r. station; contains a village of its own name; and has a post-office under Aylesbury. Real property, £10,130. Pop., 1,470. Houses, 339.
The parish includes also two hamlets, and comprises 6,010 acres. Pop., 1,786. Houses, 413. The property is divided among a few. There is a silk factory. The living is a rectory, of three portions, in the diocese of Oxford. Values, £178, £202, and £152. Patron, the Duke of Marlborough. The church was recently restored.
There are Baptist and Methodist chapels, national and British schools, and charities £146.
The sub-district excludes one of the hamlets, but includes ten other parishes. Acres, 25,152. Pop., 5,430. Houses, 1,259.

Waddesdon, a parish in the hund. of Ashendon, union of Aylesbury, Buckingham; 5½ miles north-west by north of Aylesbury, on the road to Bicester.
Living, a rectory in three portions, in the deanery of Waddesdon, archd. of Buckingham and dio. of Lincoln; rated at £15; and, in 1841, in patronage of the Duke of Marlborough. The nett income of the 1st portion, in 1831, was £178; of 2d portion, £202; of 3d portion, £152.
There is a day school here, with an endowment of £10 per annum. The Baptists and the Wesleyan Methodists have places of worship and schools here.
Here is an almshouse for 6 poor widows, 4 of this parish, and 2 of Upper Winchendon, endowed with £30 per annum, founded, in 1645, by Arthur Goodwin. William Turner, in 1784, devised certain monies for the use of the poor of this parish, amounting to £98 per annum. Other small charities amount to about £16. Poor rates, in 1838, £1,446 15s.
The parish contains the hamlets of Westcott and Woodham. The parish was enclosed in 1774. Acres 6,010. Houses 355. A. P. £1,954. Pop., in 1801, 1,040; in 1831, 1,454.

WADDESDON (St. Michael), a parish, in the union of Aylesbury, hundred of Ashendon, county of Buckingham, 5½ miles (W. N. W.) from Aylesbury; containing, with the hamlets of Westcott and Woodham, 1750 inhabitants, of whom 1408 are in Waddesdon township.
The living is a rectory, in three portions, each valued in the king’s books at £15, and in the patronage of the Duke of Marlborough: the portionists officiate in turn; net income of the first, £178; of the second, £202; and of the third, £152. The tithes were commuted for land and a money payment in 1774.
There are places of worship for Baptists and Wesleyans. Eighteen boys are educated, and one is apprenticed from a fund of about £15 per annum, left by Lewis Fetto and John Beck.
Alms houses for six aged widows were endowed with a rent-charge of £30, by Arthur Goodwin, in 1645; and William Turner, in 1784, bequeathed £3265. 11. three per cent, consols., the dividends of which are distributed among the poor, for whose benefit also an alms-cow is kept, the Duke of Marlborough allowing £10 per annum.

Tithes of this hamlet commuted in 1765. Here is a Baptist church, formed in 1833. Acreage with the parish. Houses 47. A.P. £1,706. Pop., in 1831, 242. Poor rates, in 1838, £142 8s.
