Buttons – Birmingham Manufactures and Industries Foresters Guide Book 1883

This is an old trade, employing some 6,000 persons, the larger number being women and children. It is an interesting manufacture, and may be seen to perfection in many works. Visitors will see all they can desire either at player Bros., Newhall Street; Hammond, Turner & Son’s, Snow Hill; Green, Cadbury and Richards’s, Great Hampton Street; W. Aston’s, Princip Street; Smith & Wright’s, Brearley Street; Harrison & Smith’s, Alma Street; and Watts & Manton’s, Clissold Street.
